Root Canals Near You

As your lifelong dental professionals, the dentists at Lackner Woods Family Dentistry always strive to preserve your natural teeth for as long as possible. By offering root canal treatments for decayed or infected teeth, we ensure that you get relief from pain and maintain the look and function of your natural smile. This prevents or delays the need for invasive and costly extractions and restorations, leaving you with more time to enjoy eating, speaking, and smiling with all of your natural teeth intact.

What is Root Canal Therapy?

When the teeth become severely impacted by tooth decay, bacteria can enter the tooth pulp, the living tissue inside the root canals of the teeth. This can lead to varying degrees of infection. Tooth pulp contains blood vessels and nerves, so patients are typically very aware of an infection once tooth or gum pain sets in. When left untreated, this infection can become abscessed and spread to affect other teeth and even other parts of the body.

To save the tooth and prevent the spread of the infection, our dental team will perform root canal treatment. After making you comfortable with pain medication (and optional sedation), we will drill a tiny hole in the tooth to remove the infected pulp. After sterilizing the root canals to prevent reinfection, we will fill in the hole or provide you with a dental crown to fully strengthen the tooth.

When to Book an Appointment

Root canal treatments have a very high success rate and can last a lifetime without reinfection. If you experience any of the following symptoms of infections or abscesses (which indicates the spread of infection), be sure to book an appointment with Lackner Woods Family Dentistry right away:

  • Severe toothaches or pain in the gums
  • Sudden swelling or tenderness in the gums
  • A small, pimple-like protrusion on the gums
  • Increased sensitivity to hot and cold substances in the mouth
